shivakumar at 6-days trainning in RIESI.

As I guessed earlier, I got another opportunity to visit again to RIESI at Bengaluru in August 2011. It's a '6-days advanced level trainning programme' from 1-8-2011 to  6 -8-2011.On the very first day we are heartly welcomed by the faculty of RIESI.Among them many faces are familiar to me, who taught us during 30 days CELT Programme in June 2010.

After a warm welcome , we are grouped according to our states(Karnataka,Kerala,Andra  & Tamilnadu). Mr.Nityananda Aradya gave us a task by providing five questions. We all Kannadigas introduced each to other. One of the participants - Mr. Mahes Rao, from Chitradurg recognised me and told me that he has already  seen me in my vedio c.d.( c.d. created by me on 10th std. English lessons  which I showed in RIESI in 2010  & more than 55 participants have taken it's copies). Then we made group discussions and wrote our experiences in teaching profession after undergoing that '30 days training at RIESI.'We also mentioned our recent difficulties in English at classroom teaching.

In the afternoon session Mr. Jayaraj, the co-ordinater, engaged the class. He told us to write a poem by imagining "If I were a girl.......". He gave us a handout and played an English song. We filled the blanks in the handout after listening the song for the second time.
The next session was by Mr. Shashidhar who explained about the form and style of letter writing.
On second day we had a memorable discussion about teaching of English with Dr.N.S.Prabhu. Some of the participants asked and clarified their doubts. I've also asked a doubt that"If a labourer who goes to other state in search of a job , could could acquire that language within a year, why not our students getting fluency in English even after studying it for five years?.We got a beautiful and thoughtful explanation from him. In afternoon , we visited computer lab. There we learnt how to creat our blog using our G-mail address. The result is this blog itself.
      Thanks for reading.
